Our Staff

Horizons EMS is able to provide a range of Pre Hospital Emergency medical support personnel to meet your requirements, these include Advanced and Intermediate Life Support Paramedics.

These Paramedics are supported by our team of Emergency Medical Technicians.

Our team of Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) are all certified to work at the practising levels defined by our Medical Director. They work within clearly defined procedures for their certification level of practice. It is with this clinical direction that enables the Horizons EMS team to be able to provide the highest level of medical care for our customers.

Advanced Life Support Paramedic (ALS)

ALS Paramedics are highly skilled Emergency Service Providers and have the skills and abilities to provide advanced airway management which include full intubation. ALS Paramedics are also capable of providing IV medications, high level pain relief, and management of major medical and trauma emergencies

Events that would require an ALS are one that have reasonable risk that if an incident occurs, there could be serious injury that could result in severe life threatening trauma. An example of this type of event would be Motorsport or Equestrian events.

Intermediate Life Support Paramedic (ILS)

ILS Paramedics are skilled at providing Emergency medical support, and are able to provide immediate onsite services. ILS paramedics are able to use a variety of airway management and supply IV medication, giving them the ability to manage a range of medical conditions and traumatic injury

Events that would require an ILS are ones that where there is a reasonable risk of an incident that could cause serious trauma. An example of such events would be Mountain Bike events, cycle races and Multisport events.

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT)

EMT provide Emergency medical support for the Paramedics. They are able to provide basic airway management and basic life support. On scene EMT provide scene and patient assessment along with Pre Hospital Emergency First Aid and patient care

EMT would be supporting our Paramedics at all events. There are some events that would only require EMT such as events where there is a reasonable risk of minor injury and example of this would be team sport events where the risk of serious traumatic injury is low.
